Default How many native attributes in a weapons?

Alright, maybe this is common - but it's a new one by me (then again, I'm still pretty new, so take that for what it's worth). I can only swear by all I hold dear that this is exactly what I found when I identified this... maybe it's not as weird as I think it is, but I figured I'd better emphasize that this is how it came.



Does fire damage...requires channeling magic... halves casting of earth... all inherent... with a dom magic +1 wrapping.

Fire...channeling...earth... all native to it? AND came with a wrap for a third profession?

Am I the only one who finds this utterly odd? LOL

But it has me curious - just how many different professions can natively be represented in a weapon? And what are some reasons one might find that advantageous?

Four, I think...
I don't think that it would have any advantages over a "normal" staff at all, unless you were using a very strange build... Like Arcane Echo<---mimicry or something really silly like that.

Ahh, welcome to the wonderfull world of Tyrian and Canthan inherrant drops .

Thats the main reason why perfect non inscribable weapons are worth so much. The attributes are assigned comepletely random each time the weapons drop.

This means you are quite often going to get junk like that with non matching attributes (Only count channeling and Fire magic there btw). Finding a staff that has non matching attributes that make sence (Divine favor requirement and HCT Healing prayers) is great, but finding one with matching and a sought after attributes such as a perfect r9 Curses 20/20curses is incredibly rare.

Now for your question;

The damage modifier (fire in yoru case) is normal for staff damage, they come in various elemental and a few non elemental mods such as chaos damage (random element each shot) or dark damage.

For the requirement and the HCT attribute see above.

The Staff wrapping is also random each time but can be changed, so it doesnt count if you get a PC or sell the item. You can theoretically strip off the wrapping and put it on a Mesmer staff if you wanted and it would dissapear from the one you pictured.

No, it's not especially weird for a Tyrian or Canthan inherent drop. As has been mentioned, there's a random generator at work.

There's a random generator at work with inscribable source area drops, too, of course. But with the inscription system, the mods and inscriptions are usually linked to "item's attribute." So if you get an inscribable staff with req. Channeling, then any random "item's attribute" mod which drops attached to it will trigger of the staff's Channeling req. In inherent gear, they can be all sorts of different combos.

You didn't ask this specifically, but I'll type out my answer anyway (for you or anyone else who cares to read about such details. )

In both inherent and inscription-based staffs and wands, the damage type depends on the attribute req. For most attributes, there's a fixed damage type. For example, staffs and wands linked to Death Magic almost always deal cold damage ... Curses and Blood are usually dark damage ... earth magic gear deals earth damage ... Mesmer gear usually deals chaos damage, etc. Ritualist staffs are some (but not all) of the exceptions. In my experience, loot drop Rit staffs and wands (both inherent and inscribable) can be any elemental damage type. At one time I kept eight different gold r9 inscribable "Channeling Rods" ... one of each skin in one of each of the four elemental damage types. (I've long since given up on holding them all and sold off most.)

As for the staff wrapping, those specific "Staff Wrapping of <specific attribute>" still drop and can drop on both inherent and inscribable staffs. Again, it's a completely random chance, so it's not unusual to see a specific att wrapping drop attached to a staff with a different requirement att. Inscribable staffs might also include "Staff Wrapping of Mastery" which is another one of those things which triggers on the item's attribute. In PvP equipment, you don't get the option to use the "Staff Wrappings of *" - the mastery wraps are the only way to get that type of functionality on a PvP equipment staff.

This is why Tyrian/cantha staves, focii, and wands are worth so much. Get used to it...

Back in the day staves were worse since there were 2 random inherents (the 20% skill recharge on all spells didn't exist, it was 10% HSR all ). I never got any staves worth keeping. I only got two wands worth keeping and those were 10% HSR all, not 20% HSR attribute and 20% HCT attribute. I've gotten one R10 domination 20% HSR dom +5e>50 but that's about it. I sold it for 15k.
